Application of Virtual Showcase Technologies in Real Scenarios: The Case of San Telmo Museum
Abstract
Intuitive access to information in real environmentsis a challenge for Information Society Technologies.Having this in mind, a new device for Mixed Realityapplications called Virtual Showcase has beendeveloped. It has been conceived to be used inmuseums and exhibitions, due to its compatibility withtraditional museum showcases, offering additionalinformation to the public by means of a simple, directand intuitive interface. This paper presents the realimplementation of a Virtual Showcase passive-stereoprototype exhibited in a museum for three months.Some preliminary results concerning the evaluationprocess have also been included. Although thetechnology seems to be promising, implementationaspects such as size should be improved.
