Building a Photo Studio for Measurement Purposes
Abstract
A digital photo studio was built to generate high quality real world input data for various image- based rendering and vision algorithms. Special attention was paid to carefully control the light- ing conditions in order to be able to acquire exact data about the surface properties of objects using readily available digital camera technology. This paper discusses the specific demands and requirements that arise from these goals for the equipment in the photo studio. Furthermore, we describe the typical workflow for one of our cur- rent projects, thereby illustrating the interopera- tion between the different devices.
