Title
Integrating information literacy into a university information technology course: Motivations and lessons learned
Abstract
With the explosion of information generated from various sources and stored differently in this information age, people even with good information technology (IT) tool oriented training still face increasing challenges in finding, evaluating, and using information effectively to solve their problems at hand or make wise decisions. Being information literate (IL) in the ever-changing IT landscape becomes an essential skill for lifelong learning. This paper details how the notion of integrating IT and IL motivates a major revamp of a university IT course and reports the student evaluation and the implementation experience.
