Title
Development of Dynamic QoT-aware Lightpath Provisioning Scheme with Flexible Advanced Reservation for Distributed Multi-domain Elastic Optical Networks
Abstract
In this paper, we propose a QoT and spectrum-fragmentation-aware dynamic control scheme to enable dynamic lightpath provisioning in distributed multi-domain elastic optical networks. The developed scheme employs a spectrum-fragmentation-aware routing algorithm in combination with a QoT-aware route selection method. It is capable of routing and assigning modulation formats to lightpaths adaptively to effectively deal with the spectrum fragmentation problem and the restriction on the optical transparent reach in multi-domain elastic optical networks. In order to exploit the advantages of distributed control architecture and enhance network performance, our proposed dynamic QoT-aware lightpath provisioning scheme also applies a flexible double resource reservation mechanism for reserving necessary resources and establishing the lightpaths. Performance of the proposed solution is evaluated by using numerical experiments and is compared to that of the traditional approach with a simple shortest-path-based algorithm. The simulation results prove that our proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional one and offers a significant performance improvement, says more than 40% blocking probability reduction.
